Weight Loss Advice

This is an example of the type of weight loss motivation advice which you'll find in the Australian Diet.
There are LOTS more tips!!

"The Difference Between Jolie and Maria"

JOLIE

Jolie is constantly dieting.
Mention a diet - she's tried it.
Mention an exercise - she's done it.
Mention a diet 'problem' - she can talk about it for hours.

In short: Jolie is a diet expert.

Trouble is, she never loses weight.
In fact, she'll NEVER lose weight.

Why not? (gulp)
Because she binges.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOW JOLIE BINGES

Day 1
Jolie starts new diet. Motivation 100 per cent.

Day 8
Steps on scales. Loses weight! Motivation now 110 per cent.

Day 12
Craves a burger. Resists temptation, blood pressure goes up!

Day 15
Steps on scales. Loses a little more weight. Motivation 75 per cent.

Day 19
Out with friends. Craves burger. Fights it. Loses fight. Eats burger.
Then realizes she's cheated. Thinks 'That's blown it!' Eats fries.
Becomes overwelmed with guilt. Eats second burger and fries.

Day 20
Wakes up feeling like a war criminal. Eats 2 Danish Pastries!
Later, starts total binge.

Within a fortnight, she has regained all the weight she lost.
Within a month, she is 5 pounds heavier than she was at the beginning.

A month later, Jolie starts yet another diet.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

MARIA

Maria used to be just like Jolie.
Then she discovered a wonderful wonderful secret.

It was so wonderful that she kept it all to herself.
A girl needs an edge, right?

Wonderful or not, this secret has cured Maria of yo-yo dieting
and for the first time in her life she has her weight under control.

She's still following a diet because she still has weight to lose,
but she feels good and that's what counts.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

MARIA'S SECRET

Whenever Maria craves something that is NOT on her diet food-list,
she stops for moment and decides how badly she wants it.

If she really wants it, she eats it and enjoys it.
That's right - she enjoys it!

What's more, (unlike Jolie) she doesn't see this as cheating.
She sees it as a conscious choice.

RESULT?
Instead of feeling like a war criminal, she feels good.
Instead of feeling like an out-of-control failure, she feels in control.
Instead of thinking 'I've blown it!', she thinks 'Hmm, that was nice!'

THE POINT
Maria stops her temporary craving from turning into a disastrous binge.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE FAILURE AND GUILT IS 10 TIMES WORSE THAN THE BURGER

Jolie's diet-crash began because she ate 1 little burger.
But 1 little burger is no big deal.

The real trouble only started AFTERWARDS, when the feelings of failure
and guilt hit her.

It was these feelings that transformed the situation and ruined her diet.

By putting a stop to these destructive, negative feelings, Maria prevents
her temporary-departure-from-the-diet from turning into diaster.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

YOUR DIET IS A GUIDE, NOT A BIBLE

Diets have to have rules.
Without them, there'd be no diet.

For 95% of the time, these rules operate very well.
But 5% of the time, they're useless.
Like when you REALLY want to eat something that's not allowed.

In such a situation, you have to think for yourself.

(a) Decide how badly you want the fattening food item.
(b) If you really want it, then eat it and enjoy it.
(c) Do NOT feel guilty.
(d) Do NOT feel that you have failed, or that your diet is 'blown'.

The truth is, diets are never 'blown' by mistakes like this.
Diets are only destroyed by binges caused by guilt.

So if you decide to eat something which is not allowed on your diet,
make it a definite choice - don't use it as an excuse to let go.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

BOTTOM LINE

Your occasional desire to break away from your diet is not a sin!
It is not criminal!
It is not a sign of failure.

On the contrary, it is perfectly natural.

So when it happens, learn to accept it as such.
Don't panic and think 'I've blown my diet!'
Because you haven't.

Yes, it's possible you may have delayed your progress by a few hours,
or even days. But frankly, girls, who cares?

It's a tough world out there, and if you're the sort of person who
freaks out because it might take you an extra 2 days to slim your butt,
you might as well give up now and take up knitting.

But if you follow the advice I've given you and stay cool, you'll
whip your butt into shape quicker than you can say: Size 8!
